“We paired legendary sports photographer Walter Iooss with NBA Celtics superstar Isaiah Thomas. Being the smallest point guard in the league, our goal was to show Isaiah’s outsized strength, power, and speed,” explains ESPN The Magazine director of photography Karen Frank in an interview with Grids.
“Although Walter has photographed countless athletes over the years, this was the first time he’d photographed one naked. He told us that he had practiced jumping around in his hotel room the night before the shoot, to get an idea of how things move around.”
